Walk-in Closet Design
A walk in closet design turns storage into its own small room, usually placed between the bedroom and the attached washroom. It works best when there is enough width for shelves on one or both sides and a clear aisle to stand and change. On smaller plots, a narrow galley with open rails and a single mirror can still feel like a proper dressing room.
Plan lighting carefully, because walk-in closets rarely get daylight. Use soft ceiling light plus strip lights inside shelves, and keep ventilation in mind so the space does not trap humidity next to the washroom.
- Keep doors or curtains on long-term storage to stop dust
- Add a full-length mirror and a small seat or ottoman
- Use an exhaust or air gap if the closet shares a wall with the washroom
- Group everyday clothes at eye level and seasonal items above

Sliding vs hinged: which suits your room
A sliding wardrobe needs no swing space, so it fits rooms where the bed sits close to the wall of cupboards. The trade-off is that you only open half the wardrobe at a time. Hinged doors open fully and cost less to repair, but you need clear floor in front of them.
For a kids' room or guest room, hinged shutters are often easier to live with. For a master bedroom with a tight layout, good-quality sliding tracks are worth considering.
- Choose sliding when the gap between bed and wardrobe is narrow
- Choose hinged when you want to see everything at once
- Ask for soft-close fittings either way to avoid slamming
Materials and finishes that handle Lahore weather
Moisture-resistant board for the carcass, with laminate, lacquer or veneer on the shutters, is the usual combination. Solid sheesham or deodar looks rich but is heavier and needs termite treatment. Gypsum or wooden panelling above the wardrobe can hide the gap to the ceiling and stop dust settling on top.
Light finishes keep a small bedroom bright, while darker wood suits larger rooms and classic interiors.
