Window Grill Design
A window grill design protects ground-floor rooms and easy-to-reach upper windows without making the house feel caged. Simple vertical bars or slim rectangles in black or grey steel blend into modern frames, while scroll and lattice patterns suit classic and traditional fronts. A khirki grill fixed inside the frame keeps the outside clean; one fixed outside leaves room for the window to open inward.
Plan grills together with the windows rather than adding them later. That way the bar spacing lines up with the glass divisions, the fixing points are built into the wall and the grill colour matches the frames.
- Match grill colour to the window frames for a calm facade
- Keep bar spacing tight enough for safety but open enough for cleaning
- Consider an openable section in one grill as an emergency exit
- Ask for rust-protective coating on all steel before painting

3D concept renders for inspiration — not photos of real houses or projects. A designer adapts any idea to your plot, budget and society rules.
Frames and glass that suit Lahore
Aluminium is strong and slim, which makes it good for large panes and sliding doors. uPVC seals tightly and is easy to keep clean, which helps against dust and street noise. Wood is warm and traditional but needs regular care. Whichever you choose, the quality of the rubber seals and fitting matters more than the frame name.
Double glazing helps with noise and heat, and tinted or reflective glass can cut glare on sunny faces. Ask your installer about mosquito nets that slide or fold so they do not block the view.
- Check that sliding tracks have drainage slots for rainwater
- Use frosted glass in bathrooms and on windows that face neighbours
- Seal the gap between frame and wall well to stop leaks
Planning windows on the elevation
Line up window heads across each floor and keep sill heights consistent so the front looks ordered. On corner plots, think about privacy on the side street. Leave space for split AC units so outdoor units do not end up hanging in front of a window you have designed with care.
