Stone Cladding Design
Stone cladding design adds weight and character to a facade in a way paint cannot. A pathar elevation can use rough natural stone for a rustic look, sawn stone slabs for a clean modern finish, or split-face strips that catch light and shadow. Local quarries supply a good range of greys, beiges and creams, and marble offcuts can also be used on sheltered areas.
Because stone is heavy, it must be fixed properly, either with strong adhesive on a sound base for thin pieces or with mechanical clamps for larger slabs at height. Seal porous stone so dust and rain stains do not settle in, and keep the stone to a feature area rather than covering the whole house.
- Use stone on one strong feature rather than every wall
- Ask for mechanical fixing on large or high slabs
- Seal porous stone against staining and moss
- Leave a drip edge at the top so water does not run down behind it

3D concept renders for inspiration — not photos of real houses or projects. A designer adapts any idea to your plot, budget and society rules.
Matching cladding to your house style
Modern houses usually look best with large, calm materials: porcelain slabs, smooth stone, wood-look strips or panels in one or two colours. Classic and Spanish fronts suit textured stone, brick tiles and warm earth tones. Whatever the style, limit the palette to two cladding materials plus paint so the facade does not look like a sample board.
Think about where people see the house from. Put the richest material near the entrance and at eye level, where texture is appreciated, and keep upper walls simpler.
What changes the budget (no numbers)
Cladding cost depends on the material, how much area you cover, the fixing method and the labour skill needed. Natural stone with mechanical fixing on a tall wall is at the higher end; brick tiles or porcelain on ground-floor walls are usually easier. Scaffolding, edge trims and sealing also add to the total.
- Area covered and wall height
- Material type, thickness and finish
- Adhesive versus mechanical fixing
- Detailing around windows, corners and parapets
