Office fit-out in Lahore: shell, Category A and full fit-out
Many new office floors are handed over as a bare shell, with only the structure, basic services and toilets in place. Others come with a basic finish of ceiling, lighting and flooring already done. Knowing which you are getting changes the scope a lot, so share the landlord's handover specification with designers.
A full office fit-out covers everything needed to start work: partitions, ceilings, lighting, AC distribution, power and data, furniture, reception and pantry. Some companies hire a designer for drawings and then tender the fit-out; others prefer one team to design and build. Both work, as long as responsibility for quality and timeline is clear.
Keeping the office working through heat and load-shedding
Lahore summers push AC systems hard, and a crowded open floor heats up fast. The designer should coordinate seating with AC zones so no team sits under a blast of cold air while another swelters. Blinds on sun-facing glass make a real difference.
Backup power is a business decision, not an afterthought. Decide which circuits must run during load-shedding, such as servers, network equipment, workstations and some lighting, and which can wait. The electrical design then separates these circuits so the UPS or generator is sized for what matters. If the building allows rooftop solar, ask whether your office can be wired to make use of it later.
- Give the server or network room its own cooling and backup
- Keep a quiet room or phone booths for calls in an open-plan floor
- Plan enough sockets at each desk for laptops, monitors and chargers
Renovating an occupied office
Office renovation while staff keep working is common. The designer can phase works floor by floor or zone by zone, with noisy jobs scheduled for evenings or weekends. Temporary seating and safe walkways should be planned before the first partition comes down.
