Top Bricks & blocks suppliers in Lahore

Ranked by Houseplot Trust Score from public ratings, reviews and business signals. Profiles are unclaimed until the business verifies them. Own one of these businesses?

How we rank these bricks & blocks suppliers

Each business gets a Houseplot Trust Score from 0 to 100. We weigh its public star rating (30%), the number of reviews (15%), how many independent places mention it (15%), a working website of its own (10%), a published registration or licence (10%), years in business (10%), contact details that match across sources (5%) and an active social presence (5%). Mostly positive feedback adds 5 points; mostly negative feedback removes 10. Businesses can't pay to rank higher. Where no public reviews exist, the score rests on the other signals — so treat it as a starting point and compare written quotes.

Walls are one of the largest material orders in a house. In Lahore most houses still use burnt clay bricks, while concrete and hollow blocks are common for boundary walls, partitions, commercial buildings and faster construction. Paving and landscaping use tuff tiles and interlocking blocks.

This guide covers the main products, how to judge quality, how pricing works and how to buy in bulk without losses.

Products in this category

Product What it is When you use it
First-class bricks (awal) Well-burnt clay bricks with regular shape, uniform colour and a clear ring when struck Load-bearing walls, exposed brickwork, main structure masonry
Second-class bricks (doem) Burnt clay bricks with slight irregularities Plastered internal walls where finish is hidden, where your spec allows
Over-burnt bricks (jhama) Hard, misshapen over-burnt bricks Rubble, soling and fill, not for exact work
Solid concrete blocks Cement-sand-aggregate blocks, solid Load-bearing or boundary walls where specified
Hollow concrete blocks Concrete blocks with cavities, lighter per unit Partitions, boundary walls, framed buildings
Fly-ash blocks and bricks Blocks made using fly ash with cement or lime Where your engineer accepts them as an alternative to clay bricks
Tuff tiles / interlocking pavers Concrete paving blocks in interlocking shapes Driveways, lawns, parking, streets

Brick classes and what they mean

A useful published benchmark is the General Technical Specifications of the AJ&K Planning and Development Department (Version 2014), Chapter 11 (brickwork specification). It is not a Lahore rule, but it shows how engineers usually define classes:

Property First class Second class Third class
Shape Regular, sharp square corners, parallel faces Slight irregularities accepted Defects must not make uniform courses difficult
Colour Uniform Slight variation accepted Not specified
Sound when struck Clear ring Clear ring Not specified
Max water absorption (1 hour soak) 1/6 of dry weight 1/4 of dry weight Not specified
Min average compressive strength 2,000 psi 1,500 psi 1,000 psi

The same specification gives a nominal brick size of 225 × 113 × 75 mm (9 × 4½ × 3 in), a frog on one face and a manufacturer's mark on each brick. It says brickwork should be kept moist for at least seven days. It allows rejection of the whole consignment if more than 10% of bricks in the stacks fail.

Your own contract or your engineer's specification is what counts on your site. Write the brick class into the order.

How to choose a supplier

  • Ask where the bricks come from (which kiln area) and whether the same kiln supplies the whole order. Mixing kilns changes colour and quality.
  • See a sample stack before ordering. Check shape, colour, sound and breakage.
  • Agree the count method. Bricks are sold per 1,000. Agree how you will count on unloading and how broken bricks are handled.
  • Delivery capacity. Ask how many trips your order needs and whether they can deliver on your programme.
  • Blocks: curing and age. For concrete blocks, ask how long they were cured and whether the maker can provide crushing test results. The AJ&K specification (Chapter 9) calls for blocks to be water cured for at least 10 days and for test certificates of crushing strength from an approved lab (block masonry specification).
  • Written quote. Product, class, quantity, rate basis, transport, unloading and payment terms.

How pricing works

Houseplot construction rate data records Lahore bricks at about Rs 17,463 per 1,000 (January 2026 government data reported by The News). Rates move with season, kiln fuel costs and demand, so treat this as a dated reference and get fresh written quotes.

Product Usual pricing basis What pushes it up
Clay bricks Per 1,000 bricks, delivered or ex-kiln Higher class, uniform colour for exposed work, kiln fuel costs, distance, season
Concrete / hollow blocks Per block, by size and thickness Thicker blocks, higher strength, small orders
Fly-ash blocks Per block Availability and transport
Tuff tiles / pavers Per sq ft or per piece Thickness, colour, shape, laying included or not
Transport Per trip or included in delivered rate Distance, narrow streets, small loads
Unloading Per 1,000 or per trip Manual unloading, carrying to upper floors

The process from request to delivery

  1. Get quantities from your architect, engineer or contractor.
  2. Send your request with product, class, quantity, site location and access notes.
  3. Compare quotes on the same basis (delivered or not, unloading included or not).
  4. Inspect a sample or the first load.
  5. Confirm the order in writing, with delivery dates and payment stages.
  6. Delivery and count. Count on unloading, set aside broken pieces and sign the delivery note with the actual count.
  7. Pay against delivery notes, not in full upfront.

Red flags

  • Very low rates with "class will be good" but no sample.
  • Refusal to let you count on unloading.
  • First loads good, later loads mixed with lower-class bricks.
  • Blocks delivered fresh, still damp and easily scratched.
  • No written bill or delivery note.

FAQs

What is the difference between awal and doem bricks? First-class (awal) bricks are regular in shape, uniform in colour, ring clearly and are stronger. Second-class (doem) bricks have slight irregularities. Use the class your engineer specifies.

Are concrete blocks cheaper than bricks for a house? It depends on block size, wall design, mortar use and labour. Ask your contractor to price the same wall both ways.

How do I check bricks on site? Look for regular shape and uniform colour, strike two bricks together for a clear ring, and check for cracks and under-burnt soft bricks. For large orders, send samples to a lab for strength and absorption.

Can fly-ash blocks be used for load-bearing walls? Only if your structural engineer approves the block and its strength. Ask the supplier for test results.

Why do brick rates change so much? Kiln operating seasons, fuel costs, demand and transport all affect rates. Get dated quotes and confirm the rate is held for your delivery dates.

How many bricks do I need for my house? Ask your contractor or engineer for a quantity from your drawings. Wall thickness, openings and wastage all change the number.
