Why marla size differs
A marla is not one fixed size in practice. Most Lahore housing societies measure 1 marla as 225 sq ft, the revenue record uses 272.25 sq ft, and some schemes use 250. A "10 marla" plot can therefore be 2,250 or 2,722 sq ft. Always ask which basis a listing uses.
How to read the result
A seller advertises a 10 marla plot. On the 225 sq ft basis used by most Lahore societies that is 2,250 sq ft, or 250 square yards. On the 272.25 sq ft revenue basis, the same 10 marla is 2,722.5 sq ft — 21% more land. If two plots are both priced at PKR 2.5 crore, the revenue-basis plot is cheaper per square foot: about PKR 9,183 against PKR 11,111.
Always ask for dimensions and the marla basis in writing, and compare offers on price per square foot.
