How it works

Budgeting from abroad

The default rates are State Bank interbank closing rates for 15 October 2026 as reported by Mettis Global (opens in a new tab). The rate you actually get depends on your bank or exchange company, so enter their rate and margin before you commit. "Fetch today's rate" loads a mid-market reference rate from a free public exchange-rate service; it is a guide, not the rate you will be paid.

Send money for property through banking channels in your own name so the funds trail matches the purchase — see buying property from abroad. Remember taxes and transfer costs come on top: use the property tax calculator.

Plan the full amount, not just the price

Convert the total you will need in Pakistan, not only the agreed price. Add advance tax under 236K, stamp duty, the society transfer fee and the agent's commission, then convert that total.

  1. Work out the PKR total with the tax and stamp duty calculators.
  2. Get your bank's rate and fee on the day you send.
  3. Send in your own name through banking channels and keep the proceeds certificate.
  4. Pay the seller by bank instrument against a written receipt.
