Gulshan-e-Ravi is a residential neighbourhood in the Samanabad Zone of west Lahore, spread across three union councils (75, 77 and 78) and named after the River Ravi, whose former path the area occupies (Wikipedia). It has its own Orange Line station between Samanabad and Chauburji. In Houseplot's indicative price data (Jun–Aug 2026), a 5 marla house averages roughly 3.3–3.8 crore and a 10 marla house roughly 4.9–5.7 crore.
Where Gulshan-e-Ravi is and what it connects to
Gulshan-e-Ravi is part of the Samanabad administrative zone, which was created in 2017 with 30 union councils (Wikipedia: Samanabad Town). Its union councils are listed as:
| Union council | Name |
|---|---|
| UC 75 | Gulshan-e-Ravi |
| UC 77 | Gulshan-e-Ravi A |
| UC 78 | Gulshan-e-Ravi F |
Neighbouring union councils in the same zone include Naya Choburji Bagh (UC 76), Rustam Bagh (UC 79), Shahrak-e-Gulgashat (UC 80), Islamia Park (UC 82) and Samanabad.
Orange Line
Gulshan-e-Ravi station is on the Multan Road section of the Orange Line, between Samanabad and Chauburji. Chauburji is where the line leaves Multan Road for the underground stretch to Anarkali and GPO (Wikipedia). The line opened on 25 October 2020 and runs 27.1 km from Ali Town to Dera Gujran.
That makes Gulshan-e-Ravi one of the closest residential areas to the old city on the Orange Line.
Name and history
"Gulshan" means garden and "Ravi" refers to the river. Wikipedia says the area was once the path of the River Ravi, which explains the name (Wikipedia).
The LDA has had a long administrative role here:
- 2008: The LDA's Estate Management Directorate surveyed unauthorised constructions in Gulshan-i-Ravi, Johar Town, Sabzazar and Allama Iqbal Town and issued demolition notices (Dawn).
- 2022: At an LDA governing body meeting, the Chief Minister directed resolution of unresolved issues in Gulshan Ravi, in line with court and legal orders (Punjab Government).
We could not find a reliable source for the year the scheme was laid out or its full block list, so we have not published those.
Property types and indicative prices
Gulshan-e-Ravi is a built-up area of family houses, with lettered blocks reflected in union council names such as "A" and "F". Vacant plots are limited.
Houseplot's indicative price data (Jun–Aug 2026), as ±7% ranges:
| Type | Size | Indicative range | Data month |
|---|---|---|---|
| House | 5 marla | about 3.29–3.79 crore | Aug 2026 |
| House | 10 marla | about 4.91–5.65 crore | Aug 2026 |
| House | 1 kanal | about 9.34–10.74 crore | Aug 2026 |
| Plot | 10 marla | about 3.11–3.57 crore | Aug 2026 |
We don't have 5 marla or 1 kanal plot data yet. In our dataset, Gulshan-e-Ravi's 5 marla house range sits above Samanabad (about 2.91–3.35 crore) and Allama Iqbal Town (about 2.46–2.82 crore). Small samples can swing averages, so treat that comparison with care and check recent deals.
Size basis
The British revenue marla is 272.25 sq ft and 20 marla make a kanal (Wikipedia). Check the square footage on the transfer documents.

Who Gulshan-e-Ravi suits
- Commuters to the old city, Anarkali and Lahore Junction, given the Orange Line station close to Chauburji.
- Families who want an established area in west Lahore, near Samanabad's schools.
- Buyers who prefer older, settled neighbourhoods to new schemes on the city edge.
It suits less well if you want large new plots, gated security or wide roads.
Red flags when buying in Gulshan-e-Ravi
- Unresolved LDA issues. Pending matters in Gulshan Ravi were referred for resolution by the LDA governing body in 2022. Ask the LDA in writing whether your plot or block is affected.
- Unauthorised construction. The area has seen LDA demolition notices before. Ask for the approved building plan and completion certificate.
- Low-lying land near the Ravi. The area takes its name from the old river path. Ask neighbours about rainwater ponding and check the drainage on the street. In August 2025, Ravi floodwater entered housing schemes on Multan Road further south, such as parts of ParkView City and Mohlanwal (Dawn). Gulshan-e-Ravi was not named in that report, but drainage questions are still worth asking.
- Multiple heirs on old houses. Make sure all legal heirs sign or a succession certificate exists.
- Title. Search PLRA by CNIC or khewat (ProPakistani) and have a lawyer check the LDA transfer record.
How to verify a property in Gulshan-e-Ravi: step by step
- Get block, street and house number. Union council names such as "Gulshan-e-Ravi A" or "F" are not a full address.
- Confirm the record holder. Ask your lawyer whether the plot's file is held by the LDA, the revenue system or both.
- Ask the LDA about pending issues. Given the issues referred in 2022, ask in writing whether the plot is affected (Punjab Government).
- Search the land record online. Use the PLRA search by CNIC, name or khewat (ProPakistani).
- Check drainage. Walk the street after rain if you can, or ask neighbours about ponding.
- Inspect the house and ask for the approved building plan.
- Pay by bank and keep receipts.
Documents to ask for
| Document | Why you need it |
|---|---|
| Seller's CNIC and title documents | Must match the name on the land record |
| LDA allotment and latest transfer letter | Shows the LDA file is in the seller's name |
| LDA no-dues / no-demand certificate | Confirms no pending LDA charges |
| Approved building plan and completion certificate | Confirms the house was built as approved |
| Registered sale deed and fard (for revenue-record plots) | Confirms the ownership chain |
| Utility bills (electricity, gas, water) | Reveals arrears and meter ownership |
Living in Gulshan-e-Ravi: what buyers weigh
Gulshan-e-Ravi's location is its selling point. It is close to Chauburji and the old city, and its Orange Line station makes Anarkali, GPO and Lahore Junction a short ride. Samanabad's schools and markets are next door.
The downsides are the lack of published amenity data, older housing and low-lying land on the old river path. Do more legwork here than you would in a well-documented scheme.
In our data, Gulshan-e-Ravi's 10 marla house range (about 4.91–5.65 crore) sits above Samanabad (about 3.99–4.59 crore). If you are comparing the two, look at plot width, road and condition: the premium may reflect a few larger, better houses in the sample.
Questions to ask a seller here
- How old is the house, and when was it last rebuilt or extended?
- Has the street or basement ever taken water after heavy rain?
- Which office holds the file, and is there any pending LDA matter?
- Are all legal heirs ready to sign the sale deed?
A visit checklist for Gulshan-e-Ravi
Spend at least an hour on the street before you make an offer. Older neighbourhoods reveal their problems slowly, and a single daytime visit misses most of them.
- Time the walk to Gulshan-e-Ravi station.
- Look at the street level relative to the house plinth.
- Check parking space on the street at night.
- Ask nearby shopkeepers how long the family has lived there.
This guide is general information; confirm land use with the LDA and title with PLRA/a lawyer before you pay.
