Defence Road Lahore Area Guide: Route, Flyovers, Societies and Prices

Defence Road is a south Lahore link road connecting Ferozepur Road at Kahna with Raiwind Road, Multan Road at Mohlanwal and DHA, upgraded since 2016 with the Kahna Kacha and Shahkam Chowk flyovers, and lined with schemes such as Valencia whose approval must be checked individually.

Defence Road is a south Lahore cross-link that connects Ferozepur Road with Raiwind Road, Multan Road and the DHA area (Dawn). Route and what it connects

Dawn described Defence Road in 2015 as linking Multan Road, Raiwind Road, Ferozepur Road and the Defence Housing Society (Dawn). In 2022 Dawn described New Defence Road as linking Kahna/Ferozepur Road with Multan Road at Mohlanwal (Dawn).

Valencia Town uses Defence Road and Pine Avenue as its main entry and exit points (Wikipedia).

The February 2026 commercialisation decision matters for plot buyers. Frontage plots may now be eligible for commercial use, but each plot's conversion is a separate LDA decision. Confirm with the LDA before paying a commercial price.

For Valencia, Wikipedia lists a central mosque, a community centre, football, riding and cricket clubs and amusement parks, with Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Jinnah Hospital as the nearest major hospitals (Wikipedia). WAPDA Town next door lists schools such as Beaconhouse, The City School and Allied School, and hospitals including Evercare (Wikipedia).

Who Defence Road suits

Red flags when buying on Defence Road

1. Look-alike names. Valencia Valley is not Valencia Town. Check the scheme name and mauza exactly.
2. Illegal schemes on the same road. Sandal Residencia, Shurooq Town and Al-Khaliq Residencia appear on a 2025 illegal list.
3. Commercial premium. Commercialisation approval does not make every frontage plot commercial automatically. Ask for the LDA conversion status.
4. Toll and access. The Kahna Kacha flyover runs on a 25-year toll concession; factor that into your commute cost.
5. Verification. Scan the LDA QR code (ProPakistani) and search PLRA by CNIC or khewat (ProPakistani).

How to check a Defence Road property: step by step

1. Confirm which Defence Road. South Lahore's Defence Road or a Defence Mor address in the cantonment are very different markets.
2. Get the exact scheme name and phase. Valencia Town and Valencia Valley are different schemes with different status.
3. Check the LDA's approved and illegal sections for that exact name (LDA).
4. Scan the LDA QR code for plot count, mortgage and development status (ProPakistani).
5. For frontage plots, ask about commercial conversion in writing, following the February 2026 decision on New Defence Road.
6. Get mauza and Khasra numbers and check them on PLRA (ProPakistani).
7. Visit the plot and confirm demarcation, road and utilities.

Living along Defence Road: what buyers weigh

For residents of Valencia, Wapda Town and nearby schemes, Defence Road is the bypass that avoids Thokar and Raiwind Road congestion. The Kahna Kacha and Shahkam flyovers removed two of its worst bottlenecks.

The trade-offs are toll costs on the Kahna flyover, heavy freight traffic from nearby industrial areas noted by the Punjab P3P Authority, and a scattering of unapproved schemes off the road.

A visit checklist for Defence Road

• Drive the road from Kahna to Shahkam Chowk at rush hour, including the toll section.
• For frontage plots, look at how neighbouring plots are being used and ask whether they have conversion approval.
• For schemes off the road, check the access road width and whether it is paved.
• Ask the scheme office for its LDA approval letter and compare the name and mauza with the LDA website.

Who should look elsewhere

Defence Road is a link road first and an address second. It works best for people who live in the schemes it connects.

If you rely on public transport, Defence Road is a weak choice; we found no metro or bus rapid transit on it. If you want a central address, Model Town or Garden Town via Ferozepur Road will suit better, at a higher price.
