How requests work

Real demand, anonymised

For owners

See what buyers and tenants are actually asking for — society, size, budget band and timeline — before you set your price. List a matching property free and Houseplot alerts the buyers whose requests it matches.

For agents

Each request shows a quality score and the number of agent slots left. Unlock a matching request with credits, respond within two hours, and bring the customer real options from your inventory.

For buyers & tenants

Post your own requirement in two minutes. It stays anonymous: no name or number is shown, and only the number of agents you chose can respond.

What each request card shows

  • Purpose (buy, rent, invest) and property type
  • Societies or areas — up to five
  • Size range and budget band
  • Timeline and payment mode (cash, installments, home loan)
  • Agents allowed and slots left
  • Quality score from the Lead Desk check
Guide

Tenants posting 'house required for rent' in Lahore usually state the area, size, full house or portion, budget and family size; owners who respond should price against current area rents (for example roughly Rs110,000–155,000 for a 5 marla house in Johar Town in Oct 2026), sign a written tenancy agreement and register the tenant with police within 15 days.

When a tenant posts "house required for rent in Lahore," they are telling owners exactly what they will pay for: an area, a size, a budget and a move-in date. Owners who reply with a fair rent, clear terms and their papers ready usually close faster than those who argue the price.

What tenants usually specify

Most requests in this section include the same details. Match yours before you respond.

Tenant asks for What it means for the owner
Area or society Commute to work, school or hospital matters most
Size (5 marla, 10 marla, 1 kanal) Compare like with like when pricing
Full house, upper or lower portion Separate meters and entrances matter for portions
Family or bachelors Society rules may restrict bachelor tenants
Budget Usually monthly rent, plus advance and security
Gas, parking, servant quarter Practical deal-breakers in Lahore
Move-in date and term Usually linked to school terms or job transfers

How to price your house against the request

Use current area rents, not what a neighbour asked last year. These are Houseplot's indicative rent data (Oct 2026), in PKR per month.

Area 5 marla house 10 marla house 1 kanal house
DHA Lahore 90,000–120,000 170,000–250,000 325,000–525,000
Bahria Town Lahore 75,000–85,000 120,000–160,000 200,000–350,000
Johar Town 110,000–155,000 160,000–300,000 255,000–400,000
Wapda Town 90,000–100,000 150,000–245,000 290,000–325,000
Valencia Town 100,000–155,000 165,000–250,000 215,000–350,000
Lake City 90,000–145,000 115,000–190,000 370,000–425,000
Allama Iqbal Town data not available 112,000–200,000 275,000–300,000
Park View City 90,000–105,000 125,000–160,000 data not available

For portions, the same data shows a 10 marla upper portion at roughly Rs55,000–95,000 in Allama Iqbal Town and Rs70,000–80,000 in Wapda Town. If a tenant's budget is well below the range for your area and size, a polite counter with the range is better than silence.

Documents to have ready

  1. Ownership proof — registry, fard or society transfer letter, and your CNIC.
  2. Tenancy agreement — the Punjab Rented Premises Act 2009 says a landlord shall not let premises except by a written tenancy agreement (s. 5(1)). It should state the parties, premises, term, rent and increase rate, due date, purpose, and any advance or security (s. 6).
  3. Rent Registrar — the landlord must present the agreement to the Rent Registrar, and a registered agreement is proof of the tenancy (s. 5).
  4. Police tenant registration — Lahore Police registers tenants free at police stations or Khidmat Markaz, with both CNICs, the rent agreement, an affidavit and the tenant's photo. Landlords must report a tenant within 15 days of possession, per LUMS SAHSOL, with fines of Rs10,000–100,000 for breach.
  5. Recent utility bills — so the tenant can see there are no arrears.

Unless the agreement says otherwise, rent is due by the tenth day of the following month (s. 7(2)).

Tax on the rent you receive

Residential rent is exempt from Punjab sales tax on services, as ABS & Co. notes. Income tax still applies under section 155.

Worked example: a house rented at Rs150,000 a month earns Rs1,800,000 a year. Under the FBR withholding tax card, tax for an individual is Rs15,000 plus 10% of the amount above Rs600,000, or Rs135,000 a year. If a company is the tenant, the card shows a different rate structure for companies, so confirm what it will withhold.

This guide is general information; confirm current rates with FBR/the bank/a lawyer before you pay.

Red flags when answering a request

  • A "tenant" who wants keys before signing or registering.
  • Refusal to share a CNIC or employer details.
  • Requests to sublet or run a business from the house. The Act allows eviction for subletting without written consent and for change of use (s. 15).
  • An agent asking the owner for a large fee before any tenant is shown.
