To hire packers and movers in Lahore, get a written itemised quote, plan around the city's 7am–11pm ban on heavy vehicles, photograph valuable items before loading, and keep the paperwork you would need for a consumer court claim.
Packers and movers in Lahore pack, load, transport and unload household or office goods, within the city or between cities. Two local rules shape the job: heavy vehicles are barred from city roads from 7am to 11pm, and a new tenancy has to be registered with the police once you arrive.
What a moving service usually covers
A full-service move has five parts: packing (cartons, bubble wrap, blankets), dismantling furniture and fittings, loading, transport, and unloading and reassembly at the new address. Some firms also offer storage, vehicle carriers or office relocation.
Many smaller operators only supply a vehicle and labour. That can work for a short move inside Lahore, but packing quality then sits with you.
We found no dedicated licensing regime for household movers in Punjab, so your protection comes from a clear written agreement and consumer law, covered below.
Lahore's heavy-vehicle timings
This is the rule most likely to delay a move. In October 2026, Lahore's Chief Traffic Officer said heavy vehicles are barred from entering or operating in city limits from 7:00am to 11:00pm. The list includes trucks, trailers, tractor-trolleys, loader vehicles and heavy construction machinery.
Violators face impounding, challans and legal cases, and over-dimensioned loads that stick out beyond the vehicle body get "zero tolerance". A June 2026 report on the same policy put the permitted window at 11:00pm to 6:30am.
Ask the mover what vehicle they will send and whether it falls under these restrictions. A night move, or splitting the load across smaller vehicles, may be the practical answer.
What drives the cost
We found no reliable published rates for house shifting in Lahore, so collect at least three written quotes for the same inventory. The main cost drivers are:
| Factor | Why it changes the price |
|---|---|
| Volume of goods | Decides vehicle size and number of trips |
| Distance | Within Lahore or intercity; tolls and fuel |
| Floors and lift access | Stairs add labour and time |
| Packing materials | Cartons, wrap and crates are often billed separately |
| Fragile or heavy items | Pianos, glass tops, safes, ACs need extra handling |
| Timing | Night moves under traffic rules, weekend or month-end demand |
| Dismantling and fitting | AC, beds, wardrobes, curtains and fixtures |
Checklist before moving day
- Get a written quote listing every room's items, vehicle type, number of labourers, packing materials and the total.
- Agree the date, time window and what happens if the vehicle is late.
- Photograph furniture and electronics, and keep cash, jewellery and documents with you.
- Give notice to your landlord as your tenancy agreement requires, and record the deposit return.
- Take final electricity and gas meter readings with photos on the day you leave.
- At the new address, register your tenancy. Lahore Police lists the owner's and tenant's CNICs, the rent agreement, an affidavit and a tenant photograph; registration is free at the police station or a Police Khidmat Markaz.
- Check every carton before the crew leaves, and note any damage on the delivery receipt.
Tenant reporting is a legal duty, not a formality. Under the Punjab Information of Temporary Residents Act 2015, landlords must inform police within 15 days, with penalties of up to six months' imprisonment, a Rs10,000 to Rs100,000 fine, or both.
If goods are damaged or lost
Start with the mover in writing, with photos and the delivery receipt. If they do not settle, Punjab's consumer courts are open to service complaints.
A Pakistan Observer guide sets out the steps in Lahore: serve a 15-day notice on the service provider by registered post; if it is not resolved, file a claim on plain paper within the next 15 days with your receipts; there is no court fee; and an appeal goes to the Lahore High Court within 30 days of the final order.
Red flags
- No written quote, or a "total" that changes once goods are loaded.
- A large advance in cash with no receipt.
- No business address or landline you can verify.
- Refusal to list items on an inventory.
- A vehicle that will plainly break daytime traffic rules.
